New Acer Ferrari 4000 Review
A new review of the Ferrari 4000 laptop from Acer comes from Laptop Logic.
The conclusion of this review: “Ferrari fans or not, the 4000 looks good, performs well, and is a one of kind notebook that will turn heads. ”
The Acer Ferrari is designed to impress, especially with its sleek looks and powerful components. To distinguish the new platform from its predecessors, the 4000 retains its own racing-inspired theme made up of an elegant thin-and-light carbon fiber casing in sleek black and Ferrari-red trims. Acer Ferrari 4000 (model 4005 WLMi) sports AMD’s new Turion 64 mobile processor, running at 2.0GHz on ATI’s Radeon Xpress 200M chipset. Other prominent features include a luminous 15.4-inch widescreen LCD with razor sharp 1680 x 1050 native resolution, a new modular slot-loading dual layer DVD burner, 100GB hard drive, and 1GB RAM.
The mid range ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700 graphics with 128MB DDR VRAM is appreciated and considered good for avid gamers.
Of course the design and the distinctive look is an important feature of the Ferrari Laptop : “Acer and Ferrari were able to assemble an aesthetically impressive notebook that illustrates originality and style”.
Also the black, full-sized 88-key ergonomic keyboard contains all the essential keys, and is considered very stylish.
PROS:
Good-looking high resolution 15.4-inch WSXGA+ LCD display
Fast performance
Excellent keyboard
Fast performance
Runs cool
The instant appeal of the Ferrari 4000 ultimately lies in its Ferrari racing-inspired theme, which consists of image and performance. Instead of using plastic, magnesium or aluminum materials for the lid cover, Acer and Ferrari smoked the competition by incorporating a distinctive carbon fiber lid and rubberized surface interior for a more stylish, unique, and robust design. The Ferrari “Rosso Corsa” red trim adds more to its incredible looks. Under the hood, it has enough horsepower and a myriad of functions to satisfy most users. Although Acer did not incorporate its CrystalBrite technology (glossy) into the 15.4-inch LCD screen in the 4005WLMi model, it by no means degrades from the overall image clarity. Casual gamers will appreciate the smooth frame rates provided by the ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700, especially now that it’s clocked higher than the same GPU in the Acer TravelMate 8100. The keyboard is one of the best I’ve used, second only to the Apple PowerBook, though the included Bluetooth mouse performed more like a Ford than a Ferrari. Nothing against Ford but you get my point.
The Ferrari Laptop is cosidered powerful, sleek and with an innovative design. This laptop from Acer will appeal to a broad audience, including casual gamers, students, professionals, and of course, Ferrari fans.
